Amerigo Vespucci is among the famous European explorers. He was born on March 9, 1451 in Florence, Italy. He was born of a very rich family, friendly and is well mannered. Vespucci’s father is Nastagio Vespucci. Their family is very powerful and influential to the entire town. They were Florentine silk professional traders and has overpowered the whole Italy in the year 1940 to 1730. As a part of the distinguished family, Vespucci had a good education that has been in charged by his uncle, Antonio Vespucci. Just in time when he graduated and was brave and of sufficient age, he'd saw the 1st expedition of Christopher Columbus. Right at that moment when Vespucci made a decision that he too sought to be one of the famous explorers.

When Vespucci was at the age of twenty-four, he together with his company traveled to France. His father had always desired for him to engage into the world of business, so Vespucci decided to become involved into business. He had his small business in a bank in Florence after which followed by a partnership with Gianetto Berardi in Seville, Spain. Berardi that also happens to be a Florentine just just like Vespucci. However their business didn’t lasted quite long because Berardi died at the end of the year 1945.

After his business alliance with was Berardi ended, he met and talked to Christopher Columbus about expeditions. Columbus’ had opened up that he had long been to the outskirts of Asia. With great shock and a bit left with a question mark on his head that Columbus’ really did visited, Vespucci challenged himself to carryout a journey and see Asia by by his own, with his own naked eye.

In the year 1949, Vespucci joined up with an expedition with Alonso de Ojeda. He had chosen to be with him since they know that Ojeda has already been a veteran in the fields of expeditions and the man was at Columbus’ 2nd journey. Their expedition is made up of 4 ships that had been attended with outstanding cartographers and cosmographer like Juan de la Cosa, who once became part of expeditions of Columbus. They had traveled far and had journeyed mostly to the whole of South USA. They have found precious stones like emeralds, pearl and gold. They found a peaceful land that they named “Venezuela” which is from the word “little Venice”.

Years following the journey, Vespucci again joined another expedition. He joined with the trip of King Manuel heading to Brazil. They'd located some important places like Rio de Plata and Guanabara Bay or now called Rio de Janeiro.

America was named and had been internationally approved in honor of Amerigo Vespucci who had been the one who found it. It was done and proposed by Martinus Ilacomilus , one of the writer of the famous book entitled “Cosmographiae introducto” which means Introduction to Cosmography.

Vespucci spent the last years of his life training pilots. He stayed as a pilot trainer until he died on February 22, 1512 in Seville, Spain.
